24Valve LPs....National Backorder

Thats cool they got you all straightened out. Customer service is VERY important to run a successful business. Alot of places these days dont relize that, unfortunatly.
It make it more worth ut, now that your getting a rental. That can be alot of fun. Ive had some memorable times in rentals.

So if I did replace LP myself I may not get a new VP like it sounds that I will...also, if I put in aftermarket LP and VP dies can't DC say (oh well, you should have kept OEM parts....NO WARRANTY ON VP!!!!!!!.
After my warranty expires....BOMB TIME!!!!! Call me paranoid but after I got turned down for warranty service because of my lift and tires I ain't taking chances...

By the way if you do not get a new VP, PM me and I will let you know how to get one before your warranty runs out.

Well, one week later since I dropped off the truck......still no LPs and no E.T.A.
I bet there are alot of 98.5 - 02' s parked because of the national backorder. Oh well, my rental is o.k. for now, only paying for gas.
Will let yall know when I hear something.
Tom

WOW!
Makes me glad I bought a brand new spare about 6 months ago.
I saw this on hoeslidiesel.com
Cummins Service/Parts Topics
New Fuel Lift Pump
Fuel System-Bosch VP44-ISB
Market Application-All
This Service/Parts Topic announces the release of new fuel lift pumps for ISB and QSB VP44 series engines.
The new fuel lift pumps, Part Numbers 4932707(12 VDC) and Part Number 4932708(24 VDC), obsolete and supercede the previous fuel lift pumps (Part Numbers 3990105 and 3990106). The new fuel lift pumps have an internal bypass circuit in the rotor housing that allows fuel to be drawn, with less restriction, from the fuel tank to the injection pump in the event of an inoperable fuel lift pump.
There are no visual differences between the new fuel lift pumps and the old fuel lift pumps. The new fuel lift pumps can only be identified by part number.
Fuel Lift Pumps
Voltage------New Lift Pump Part Number---------Old Lift Pump Part Number
12 VDC----------------4932707 ---------------------------3990105
24 VDC----------------4932706----------------------------3990106

Okay, I'm going to assume we are all using the 12vdc model......right?
The 24 volt part number is for heavy trucks?
I'd just hate to see someone miss that little difference and burn up a new pump on low voltage.

Well, good news. I finally got my truck back. Dealer called yesterday and said truck was ready so I dropped off rental (which would have been 400.00) and picked up my rig. New intank LP….are you ready for this? 8 – 10 psi idle, 6-8 cruising, 2-4 W.O.T. Oh well, it is better than before. I am thinking new VP within a year but that’s o.k. it will be under warranty. All I paid was 60.00 fir gas over the past week. No charge at all for warranty work. Here is the verbiage from my paperwork…..
“CHECK AND ADVISE CUSYTOMER STATES THE ENGINE HAS 1LB OF FFUEL PRESSURE, NO POWER ECT.
NO POWER FUEL GAUG AT 1 PSI VERIFIED COMPLAINT GAUG READS 0-3 PSI CHECKED DTC’S NONE CHECKED FUEL PUMP VOLUME 16OZ LIFT PUMP FAILURE POSSIBLE INJECTION PUMP CONCERN MAY HAVE PROBLEM IN FUTURE INSTALLED LIFT PUMP UPDATE KIT REINSTALLED GAS TAN AND 2 PIECE DRIVELINE”
Does anyone know what “DTC’s are? It stands to reason that I should have no problem getting a new VP if mine goes south while under warranty. I have 13 months and 37,000 miles left to go.
Also, when I get a new VP, what do you recommend as far as improved pressure with the intank? Vulcan kit? Holley Blue pump? Mitusa?
Thanks guys!
Tom

Just remember to plug the LP back in before going to the dealer. Let them chase their tails for a while figuring out why there are LP codes and a good LP
