24v 98 high idle

So I was on my way to work the other day and thought I'll hit the fast lane and get there a little faster, since i was going to be late, didn't go real fast about 75mph. Then when I was sitting at a stop light, something didn't sound quite right with the engine, it sounded a little faster than normal. So I checked my tach. and it showed it was idleing high. Nothing extremely crazy, idleing the needle is usualy on the 2nd line below 1000, but this was on the line between the normal idle and 1000. It hasn't done it since, and was just wondering if anyone had any insite as to what may have caused it.

Thanks in advance for your inputs.

The pedal could have physicaly been hanging up some and causing ahigher idle, that or your APPS could be sendinga goofy signal.

When I recallibrated the APPS on my '99 it high idled like crazy until I assume the ECM relearned the pattern and it returned to normal.

It sounds like it could be an APPS (accelerator pedal position sensor.) Have you checked for any codes?

I don't think the pedal was stuck, because I had to drive through town and hit several stop lights. I really hope it's not my APPS, I just replaced that about 9 months ago. Yes I have checked for codes, the one I usualy get is for over boost. I have gotten a few for my injection pump, I know thats ticking, I had one for my transfer pump, and only had 4-6 psi at idle for I don't know how long, then put in a DDRP about 3 or 4 months ago.

Mine did this just before the VP-44 died.

I dont really want to hear that, but at the same time I kinda cant wait for the POS to die, I am tired of the engine acting like I've gone from mild acceleration to dropping the pedal and letting the engine idle (especialy bad when using cruise control).

I put up with a lot of symptoms for about 2 years before mine died. It would only run 35 mph until it warmed up. Would lose the pedal every now and then. When it finally did go, I had already ordered a new one and it did die in the garage. Glad it didn't let me down a thousand miles from home.
