2002 startup problem(s)
I have a cummins and when I first start it in the morning and start driving before it is totally warmed up it has no power and blows blue smoke. Once it's warmed up no problem.
When towing my fifth wheel and holding in a lower gear it will start blowing blue smoke. Once I up shift, it quits with the blue smoke.
Anyone with any ideas?
Thanks, Don

Try the key trick. Turn the ignition on, off, on, off and on again without starting. The ECM codes will show up in the odometer window. Look for the P0216. This is the VP44 code. p1693 will show up. That only means there are codes stored in the ecm.

Thanks a bunch! I'll give it a try and see what comes up. My good friend works for auto zone so they should have a reader to tell me the rest of the story.

I went down and had the codes read and the only thing that came up was the code for cam and crankshaft timing. Truck runs great except for in the morning before being warmwed up.

Less than 100K. I'm buying Timbo's APPS unit because some other things raised it's ugly head while I was deer hunting. Flat pedal twice for one thing.
