2002 dodge 2500 need automatic hard lines

I think that I rubbed a hole in the hard line where it crosses the motors cross member.
every thing was covered in transmission fluid. but I am pretty sure this is where it would be leaking.

where would I find replacement lines? I only have one day off this week and really need to get this fixed.

I hope that I did not damage the transmission.
on the hyway, the over drive kicked off. I was about 1/4 mile from an exit.

When I got to the bottom of the ramp and the stop sign. It would not take off right away. then it caught and I moved to a safe spot. took 5 quarts of fluid to bring it back up.

seemed to work fine the last 70 miles home with only one stop to put in two more quarts.

thank you for your time and advice.

I would either use brake line or flexible tranny line, either available at any parts store.

go to the wrecking yard. brake line is to small and flexible lines will vibrate like crazy and rub through.

you could patch it with a coupler. cut it where it rubbed through and put a coupler on right there. (this is what I would do, fast and clean)

This is a good heads up for the second gen owners. My trans line was also rubbing on the cross member but I caught it before it wore through. I covered it wtih rubber fuel line and wire ties.

I would call the nearest dealership, might cost a little more but would probably be the fastest. Or you can call the guys at the link listed below and see what they can do.

Mine rubbed through on a road trip almost two years ago.

I sliced a piece of heavy black bubber hose, slipped it over the metal line and installed 2 stainless clamps (tight together over the hole in the line). It was meant as a quick-fix to get the truck home but I haven't replaced the line yet!

This post makes me think... maybe I should check to see if my clamps are wearing through yet!

2002 trans lines

my trans lines actually were rubbing against each other and caused a leak at several different location.

i think this is a design error,,,letting these rub each other.

i have looked at local part stores, but couldnt find anything. so i ended up at dealer. there are three trans lines,, prices run 46...48...100.

i haved replaced so far...but cant get the second to slip out of fitting in rubber hose going to cooler. there was a clip on it,,removed that,,but still wont come apart. looks like a hydraulic coupler fitting..but not sure.

will post later.

marty....

Find a local Gates hydraulic hose supplier. They have transmission line where you can buy push in fitting that are good to 300 psi and will handle the temps the tranny makes. DO NOT forget they use 1/2 inch line not 3/8 like most other trucks!!!! Its a bit pricy but its good stuff. I redid my lines with the rubber stuff Its easy working with and wont rust away since my truck is a plow truck and sees lots of salt. Just make sure they are secure and cant rub on anything to damage..
