2000 dodge cummins 24 valve max mpg?
Working on a 2000 dodge cummins 24 valve with a automatic transmission, edge attitude chip and a large intake and exhaust. I was wondering what else i could do to get the mpg up? The truck is currently getting around 17 mpg and i would like to get over 20 if possible.

Other than slowing down, keeping tires aired to max, Read up on injectors. Different spray pattern/angles of injectors will help improve mpg. Some Mach or DDP injectors should get you close to 20mpg

When I first bought my truck new I was getting over 24mpg M/T and as hight as 28. It was easy to get 600 to 650 miles per tank. But the crap fuel we get ( ULSD ) I fight to get 20. I had change out injectors to a 8 hole 125 and was able to bring it back to 23 just. These injectors are a little to large I should have gone for the 100hp the 125s run a little warm when i pull my fifthwheeel It was suggested I run twins, maybe when my money tree stars to bloom........HaHa

Same as Dieselbuilder said.....when I got my truck before the ULSD I could pull 24 on the highway doin 68mph! Pretty good for an 8800 lb truck....
ULSD shows up and I am around 17-18 at 60 mph....Crawlin!
My plan is to go to 90 hp injectors after I upgrade the fuel pump.

i know this isn't legal... and you can face huge fines for doing it... but... has anyone run off road with better mpg's?
I run stage 2 injector's and in the summer when I run 50%wmo blend.. I can get 19.5mpg highway.. keeping it at 67mph

One thing that is not being mentioned is rear end gears. You will never get 23 MPG with 4.10 gears and stock tires, people will say they do but believe me, they don't. If you are running 3.54 gears then you should be able to get those kinds of figures. I have thought about changing my gears from the 4:10's to 3:54's. The best I have gotten with a real light foot and staying at 55 or lower is 18.5. And the way I had to do it was not practical for normal use.

Just got back from a 600 mile trip. With my mods and doing about 75mph I pulled in 19.6mph for the trip. Could probably do a little better driving slower but with open roads here in Nevada I'm happy with what I get.

Check out the pic at the bottom of this dtr link. It's a 12v, but the laws of physics still apply.
That airdam could be just the ticket.

Altitude makes a big difference on mpg too, less air resistance.
My "best" figure came from traveling thru Wyoming to Denver, dead straight, flat highway at 4500+ feet. Highway ribs and 3.55's, and a canopy.
I nab 13-15 around town and 18 highway under 70 mph at sea level.
