1998 3500 dually, max tire size
Just bought a 98 club cab 3500 dually, needs tires, has 215 85R16 on now can 235 85R 16 be used? will they rub, will they touch on duals, will they screw up the computer. Thanks roadhermit58

Without spacers that's about it. Some run the 245 or 255 but they just touch or are very close so it probably isn't a good idea. Spacers will require longer studs too so it is a multi pointed problem. You can get the wheel cut and spaced out more but it is a bit pricey for what you get JMHO.

I'm running on my 2nd set of 235's.
It doesn't screw up the computer, but it WILL make your speedo read about 4% on the slow side.
I use my GPS for accurate ground speed, but you can have the dealer adjust the 'puter for the new tire size.

I don't know if there is a difference from 98 to 00, but my 255/85s fit fine. I've had up to 4400lb in back with no rubbing. My speedometer is off somewhat, but since I started with 235s, it's not as bad as going from 215s.

buy the leveling kit for the front end and you can run up tp 35in tires.I bought 33 12.50s for the front and 33 10.50s on the duellys.the tires are just wide enought to give it that nice agressive look.they stick out a little but well within california DOT standards.

I have 285/75 R16(33x11.3") BFG A/T'S on every corner.
Here's the rear shot without the lift kit.

There's more pics of it in the gallery with and without the lift kit. Rims are stock 98-99. 2" spacer between the duals.
I have bought already a set of 37x12.5" Pro Comp X-Treme All-Terrains and set of 3rd gen 17" wheels with simulators. I'm going to custom widening those so 12.5" dont come of the wheel and wears correctly.
