0216 code thrown with low fuel pressure?
Drove my truck one mile and did not notice low fuel pressure (4 psi) -- a rubber line was kinked. Did notice hesitation, which caused me to check pressure gauge and then find the kink.
Threw an 0216 code in the PCM -- injector pump timing. Replaced the the rubber line, fuel pressure is up to 18 psi idle and doesn't draw down below 12. Truck runs fine, no dead pedal, no hesitation or stutter, etc.
Question: does the 0216 code show up because of low fuel pressure and its effects on the VP44? Or is it a circuitry-only code? I've seen comments here that it's a circuitry-only code, and others who say they've seen it with fuel starvation or thinning.
Question: I run fuel lube additive, and the truck was warm and had been run before the line kinked. Enough lube for the VP44 to last a mile at very slow speeds? Or should I start saving money for the replacement?
Question: is disconnecting the batteries for 20 minutes the only way to clear this code?
thanks!

Gear Poet in your case the P0216 code came on because low fuel pressure. The speed senor in the VP needs fuel between the pick-up and wheel to work correctly.

I wouldn't sweat it. I think your just fine. As long as you have good FP now and aren't experiencing any dying VP symptoms (hard start when warm, etc), I'd say your VP is just fine.
