02 dana 80 pinion seal question.
My 02 dana 80 has two seals, a v ring that goes on the yoke, and the pinion seal. It looks like the old v ring is working its way out and leaking. Just want to make sure I install new seals the right way. The v part of v ring is supposed to be inside pinion seal, right? So the v ring spins inside the seal? Hope I explained this correctly. Thanks.

Just did my 01
The stock seal on mine was a dust shield, incorporated into the seal, via a rolled edge.
Both parts of the seal are stationary, and the yoke rotates within them.
The garter spring obviously goes on the pinion side, and the dust shield to the outside. The factory seal is self sealing around the back face, but I tend to put a skim of silicone on there too, just to make sure.
I tried an aftermarket seal, but with my yoke, it didn't work, due to the square shoulder on the yoke body.
Also, look into a speei-sleeve for the yoke, mine had a groove that was worn right through the (rather shallow) surfacing material, to the porous junk below.
hope that helps.
