01 3500 with spun rod bearing
I just purchased a 2001 3500 4 x 4 w/ 120k. Has spun rod bearing & motor is locked up. Is it cheaper to replace crankkit & Rod, or replace motor? Anyone know anyone in Indiana capable of repairing existing engine?

Do you know for sure that it has a bad bearing? If in fact it does the motor should be rebuilt. With all the crap from the bearings floating around it needs a complete tear down to repair it properly. If you were closer i could do it for you.

I just went thru a motor swap and bought a complete block with 130,000 miles on it for $3500 at a sacramento salvage yard. The motor swap was not easy however I was looking to have it rebuilt when I noticed the stamp 53 on it. The first thing I thought was get rid of the block.. Rebuilt is roughly 5500 with R and R. Good luck
