01 2500 5.7 diesel 2wd wont start need help
i have a thread on the emergency thread but i thought that maybe yall can help too
my truck just stopped i had a 1/8 tank of fuel and the gas pedal went limp and the truck just died.
i replaced the fuel filter and tried to prime the filter for 30 min bumping the starter and listening for the injector pump to stop before bumping it again
i had to have the truck towed back to my house and i found out how to read the codes and the only one that it is throwing is p 1693 which i looked up and it is as followes (DTC detected in Companion Module A fault has been generated in the companion engine control module.) now what doed that mean everything that i have found is about moding the comp mine is bone stock except for a 5in exhaust.
any theories i need my truck for work and without it i cant work much.

IIRC when mine threw the 1693 code I ended up replacing the ECM. There were some compaion codes with it but I can't locate my notes on this. If I can find them I'll post up.
PS> Its a 5.9 liter

My truck is pretty stubborn, I could crack the lines on some other diesels, mayber 2-3 lines and they would fire off, smoke, run rough and then clear up. My Cummins though, think the last time I had to do it, I just cracked all 6 lines and cranked her over, tightened them up and started. It's easier if you have someone there to crank for you that way you can watch the fuel spray, should be a little squirt out around the hole in the nut where the line goes thru.

you need to have your codes read with a scanner, 1693 is a companion code that tells you there's a code stored in the ECM & PCM............ auto zone or checker will scan it free
