Zoom ZVT Ceramic
Anyone know anything about the Zoom ZVT ceramic? It's supposedly good to 1,000 lb/ft and cheaper than the alternative.

I've also heard of ceramic coated pistons in sled pullers to withstand high EGT's better. And ceramic coated exhaust ports to reduce heat losses before the turbo, decreasing cylinder head temps and driving the turbo better.

Clutch. I would really like to have a ceramic clutch, and I don't care about how smooth it is to let out. I just can afford a South Bend. I like the idea of the Con O Fe, but not $1,700. My Zoom has put up with a lot of crap from me and it still works (although I think my flywheel is toasted).
This Zoom is $800, which I could justify when my current clutch finally yaks (one more full boost speed shift would do it ).

Where on earth did you hear that price. Our dual disc clutches run that much but the single disc clutches run 1/2 that price.
Just wanted to set the record straight.

Do you think your CON OFE can handle full throttle speed shifting on the street? If I have a choice between Zoom and South Bend (cost and performance being roughly equal) I would certainly go South Bend.

Have you heard anyone actually putting down 1000ft lbs with a Zoom clutch?? Just asking, I don't know!
Personally, I would stay away from anything with weights on the Pressure Plate, unless it was going in a 5000+RPM pulling truck, or a gas vehicle! Centerforce proved that centrifugal weighting systems don't work in a diesel.
At least I think I remember seeing that Zoom clutches were weighted flywheels?
Chris
EDIT!!! Upon reviewing ZOOM's website, they list a clutch designed for 1482ft lb @ 3000RPM. What will at hold at 2000-2500RPM when most of our trucks make peak torque?? I'll bet its well under the advertised 1482ft lbs!! I'll bet this would be an awesome clutch for a ProCharged V10 at 6K
