'92 FSM! Gotcha! ;D

Sorry, but couldn't resist. Hey ... at least I'm starting off on the right foot or left foot for left-handers but wait I'm cross-dextrous (get your minds out of the gutter ... I'm strange, but not that strange) so that means I'm starting out on the left foot. Happen to be right-handed but left-footed. I guess a wire got crossed somewhere along the line. Now, now ... try to resist the irresistible urge to say something smart-alecky.

I'm quite impressed with it, much better than my GM FSM's. And judging from all the grease marks on the diesel-related pages the previous owner/user was a dieselhead.

Took a quick look thru it & have a couple of questions. There's a section on "Vehicle Weights" & quite a few of the 'rows' have 2 weights with no explanation of why the 'extra' weight is listed. I'm most interested in the "Curb Weight" #'s but double #'s are also listed for "GVWR" & "Payload Allowance". It's not RC vs CC as there are separate rows for each. Or 2WD vs 4WD ... ditto. Or SB vs LB bc apparently the 250 & 350 series weren't available with the SB. Or, apparently, SRW vs DRW at least for the W350 since there's only one weight listed for it -- 4845 lbs. Can anyone explain the two #'s? Here's the abbreviated table:

The other question I had concerns a couple of references I found to the NV4500. What's up with that? I thought only the Getrag was available up to '93, am I mistaken.

I can't explain the weight thing, but the Getrag was offered only with the diesel, and the NV4500 only in the gas powered trucks. Maybe the Getrag is theoretically a stronger unit? Sure has a bad reputation, though.

Thnx for the NV4500 explanation. It does seem kinda strange that the NV4500 wasn't offered with the 1st gen diesel but was offered in the 2nd gen on up. Wonder why that is?
