Worn out dampner

My tach, A/C and Alternator quit working which all leads to the crank sensor, so I popped one in. The tach sorta worked as did the charging system the A/C...not really, so with the fan out and the engine running I went to looking at things and noticed the belt would momentarily slow down and the engine rpm didnt. I marked the dampner with a paint pen and sure enough its slipping and you can see if move in and out a bit when reving it.

Question is where to get one and is the dampner model year specific?

So the crank damper is only good for 1.1 million miles, huh? Cheap piece of crap!

Cummins is probably going to have the best price for a new one. One off any 12 valve Dodge with a crank sensor ought to work fine if you're shopping used. If you want to spend some $$$ you can get a Fluidamper unit aftermarket now.

I was reading in a 4x4 rag the other day that Bully Dog was coming out with a damper for diesels too. probably just a repackaged Fluiddamper though. Might be worth checking into.

You say the dampner moved in and out a bit???? Well I guess a million miles and now the engine needs some bottom end work. The dampner is bolted to the crank. If the dampner is moving, it's the crank moving in and out. Thrust bearing is shot. Time for some work.

I should have said its just 1/2 the dampners moving. I also marked the 2 pieces with a paint pena and started the truck and sut it off and the paint marks were inches apart.

Im eyeballing the fluidamper but 400.00 is a bit steep.
