wiring harness
Had a small fire in my '93 1 ton duelly 4x4 with a getrag 5 speed. the main engine harness is melted together and some wires leading to the fuse box. Does anyone know if the harness from a '93 3/4 ton 4x4 with an auto will swap easily? What kind of issues might I have doing this swap?

Wiring harnesses are strictly for economy and faster assembly-line progress.
You can do far better by running bigger wires yourself, minus all of the quik-connectors and fuse-links.

Got the inside of the cab done. Just swapped the whole dash. Fit well. The donor truck had a jumper wire in the pigtail for the neutral safety switch. Will the be a jumper wire in the five speed harness where the auto tranny plugs in? I haven't come across one yet.

The manual trans harness just grounds the brown/yellow wire for the NSS. You will have to do that yourself. The white and purple/white wires to the NSS plug go to your reverse light switch.

Finally finished changing over the harness. Swapped the air cond also. Used the harness from the auto except for the engine and tranny harness. It was small and fairly simple. So I just pulled it out stripped off the loom and went through it and patched it.
I have a couple of ellectrical issues that came up now that the truck is running. Signal lights work, but when you turn on the headlights both signals light up. The brake light in the dash stays on. Checked the park brake, Vacuum is good and the proportioning valve seems to be working. Is thereany thing elsethat might turn that light on. Also decided to try and get the RWAL to work. Bulbs in both trucks were out so I stuck a new bulb in to see what would happen and it stays on. Iunplugged the harness to the black box behind the glove box to see if it would reset and nothing. I shorted the black wire in the pig tail but the light won't flash any codes, just stays on. Any ideas? Thanx.

Sounds like the signals and markers got tied together somehow.
Rwal box, vacuum sensor, parking brake switch, and proportioning valve switch are all sources of ground for the brake warning light. Unplug one at a time until the light goes away, tht will tell you whee your problem is.

Was talking to a guy in town today and he said to try stomping on the brake pedal a couple of times and sure enough it worked. Brake light is out. Now to figure out why my rwal light doesn't flash any codes.

If I pull the marker lights on the front of the fenders out lights all work like they should. Are the marker lights supposed to flash or are they just marker lights? Any ideas on where they might be shorting out?(signals don't flash when park lamps are on when fender markers are plugged in.)

the marker lights in the front fenders are just marker lights. they don't flash. my marker lights don't work either. they haven't since i had a little issue a while back. the light in my a/c & heater controls went out. about a week later, the light was working again, but then my side markers weren't working. i've yet to diagnose the problem, but i'm gonna start by guessing it could be a bad ground somewhere. i also have lights on my running boards that haven't worked for as long as i can remember. and since the light in the a/c controls came back on, just ONE of the lights in the driver's side running board is on now. i'm thinking whoever installed the running boards tapped into the marker light for power and one of the grounds is bad. or just a crappy wiring job altogether.
