Unhappy windshield wiper woes

well all was good and i had my slide in camper purchased and in the truck headed home , it was rain all the way and suddenly i heard a pop from the cowl area and the wipers quit . i was only about ten miles from home so i made it back , i took off the cowl and to my pleasure discovered just what i thought had happened ........ the nylon bushing holding the actuator arm on the motor arm had failed so i made some temporary bushings and clips from aluminum and fixed it so i could drive as it is my only transport for now.

just a word of warning if you have an old truck that sits in the sun a lot , do some prventive maintenance by replacing all 4 of the nylon bushings that are in the wiper linkage as they WILL eventually fail and usually at the most in-opportune time . dodge dealer had em in stock and since the parts manager is my friend i got em really really cheap , i think all four cost less than 15 bucks and take a few minutes to install.

Yep! I did em on my truck last month. Yes, they do pop when you're running in the rain. Why would they pop otherwise.

Lightbulb Wipers, Bad. Bad.

Mine broke during a bad downpour and my blades locked up in the center of the window.
I got mine at Pep Boys at 8:55 P.M. running in the door. Found them in the HELP carded section. Got 2 diffrent sizes in the pack and if I remember it was only around $5.00.
The hardest part was standing in the rain trying to pop them into the socket.
Jim.

I believe it's most likely a contact in the motor or the motor housing. It keeps power to the motor until it parks, which opens the contact. Fix this and I'll bet you get back your intermittants.

Remember that if you break one, REPLACE THEM ALL. One time I broke one, took it all apart and just replaced the broken one. A few months later another one broke.

I carry spares in my glovebox now in case I'm on the road and it happens again.

Intermittent wiper control module

Rebal "under the dash on the right side of the steering collum is a black box slid over a metal bracket about 1.25"x2.5"x 3' its the intermitten wiper modual its bad... after awhile the wipers will start to come on on there own and you cant turn them off unless you unplug the modual. dealer item only $65.00"

Is there anyway I can test if this is bad before spending the money? I don't have delay but I do have hi and lo. Just didn't want to start a new thread. I have a 1993.
