Will the 5.9 Cummins turbo fit a 3.9 Cummins?

 

yes, the 3.9's came with H1C's... same turbos found on the 1st gen CTD Dodges...

I would put an HY35 off of a later 5.9 on it if I had one...

What he said. The 3.9 needs a smaller turbine housing than the 5.9, so an HY35 would be ideal. You can usually pick them up cheap because they're too small for a bombed 5.9.

 

Cool, I was kinda hoping to use an after market set up to get some serious power. But hey, I'll use what I can.

 

well, the HY35 supports **** near 350hp on the new trucks...

350hp from a 3.9 is like 525hp from a 5.9

just how serious are you wanting to get? if you wanna get freaky, use an HY35 as the top on a set of twins... put something like an HX55 or an H2E on the bottom.

 

I built a 4bta3.9 in a rps delivery van for a customer of mine.I ballanced the entire unit and installed a hy35/9cm turbo. I also installed a set of 181 dvs.If i can ever figure out how to post some pics i will. I can tell you that the van pulled like a mad dog. Fastest delivery service in town.

 

Ok, that sounds like it should be plenty. Don't want to go to over the top.
