My wife hates my truck too. I told her I want to find another one of the first gens and she says I have to buy a newer truck. So I guess I'll be getting a second gen 12V. She really likes the new trucks but I don't want to have a mortgage payment just to go to work.

Mine loves the fact that I didn't spend 45k on a new truck. So she doesn't mind the cost of "maintenance" She loves football and cuttin' firewood. Heck I gave her her own chain saw for one of her birthdays. And she doesn't like diamonds either. I love that woman....

There are many answers to this, but I will only give you one. Tell her if she doesnt let up on the complaining, your going to trade HER in. Worked for me !
I have a habit of getting these old trucks and restoring them. Always working on them. When I met her ( wife ), she asked me about the trading in trucks and how many I have had. I explained to her that, thats the way I am, and its either trading trucks every few years or trading her in in a few years. She has nothing to say about it now, and she actually will get in and help me out when I need it working on the truck. Good Woman I go there. Been to may diesel events together and still going.
Get her involved so shes not jealous of your ride.

My wife hates my truck as well. We use it for almost all outings. She thinks the suspension is too rigid.
I like it that way... Wouldn’t be worth a bucket of warm spit w/out it.
Put a load on the truck and it feels better.

Mine would've complained if it werent for the fact that when I bought it it was a 20 year difference in what I drove. She didnt like riding in the 72 IH 4x4 and I dont blame her, it was of all things louder, rougher, colder, hotter, uglier, taller, messier, "expensiver" and a guzzler. So she sees it as a plus.

I was driving my truck when I met my wife and I guess I will be driving it when they plant me. She is happy for me and knows how much I love her and my truck. I guess I am one of the lucky ones who has a wife that is not jealous of my time or my truck and she is sure not going to try to see which one is stronger.

My wife hates my truck too. It rides too rough, is too loud and stinky. She had pretty much hated every vehicle I have ever had mostly because of the "mistress" effect. Besides, my idea of the optimal ride is far from hers.... She loved her 2002 Grand Cherokee Limited (except she wants more agressive tires).

I got my truck when my Father in Law passed on. My wife was not excited about using it to tow with (we were using a 3/4 ton van). She has never liked the smell of diesels as it gives her headaches. However, after the first trip towing the travel trailer she commented that we needed to sell the van - which we did. That was in '98. We haven't looked back. While she isn't excited about backing it up or parking it, she is right there to drive on the road as it tows soooo much better than what we had. As our family has grown up and moved out, the standard cab with sleeper is enough.
We have occasionally looked at a new truck, but had a hard time justifying the purchase. Last springs refitting of the sleeper and new paint has made all talk of another truck go away.
