WIF Light

My light is on and is staying on even after I removed the filter and drained it entire and refilled it with fresh fuel. Any idea why?

The WIF sensor is likely the culprit. If it gets moisture in the connection it will cause a connection making the light come on and it will take a while for it to dry out enough to work right. You can get a new one for about $20 from Geno's Garage. Mine did the same thing and I left it unplugged for a few months. Decided to plug it back in and try it and it worked fine.

Okay, I'll go that route of leaving it unplugged. I'm sure it's just a moisture issue. Thanks guys.

Mine turns on every time i go through the car wash. funny part is I don't have a sensor anymore. I use a filter with a drain in it.

Blast out the sensor with some WD40 then some electi-clean. The WD will drive out moisture. I've heard this works.

also there could actually be water in your fuel. suspended water may go past the fuel filter, even an aqua block filter...

What you most likely did was screw the WIF sensor into your filter too tightly. It causes the tip of the sensor to contact the base of the filter, shorting the circuit, telling you you have water in the system. Unplug the sensor until your next filter change and don't screw it on so tightly. Or back it off a bit currently. I don't run a sensor anymore as it seems to be just another circuit to go bad on my truck. I run an FS1221 filter that doesn't have the sensor port in the bottom.

A wet connector will also cause a problem with the light coming on. Make sure it is dry
