White Rims to match White Body?
Ive had this idea rolling around in my head for some time now and I want ya'lls opinion.
My 'goal' with my truck is to be white and black. No chrome, except the grill, just all white and black. If I can ever find an oven I can get my door handles, tailgate handle, ect powdercoated...but that's beside the point of this thread.
My rims right now are black.
Ive been throwing this idea around in my head for a while....
What if my rims were painted white to match the body? Like an OLD 8N Ford Tractor?
I decided to see what it looks like. I pulled out my old rusty spare, took a can of cheap gloss white spray paint and gave it a good coating and slapped it on just to see...
Here is the end result.
I am completely on the fence about it.
If I look at it at one angle, I love it. Take two steps to the right...nah...not so much love.

^^^ Not sure 'girly' is appropriate where I grew up ranching and we didn't feel the need to take our stock rims off and paint them a more manly color!

White on a rim is high maintenance... the rust stains start to apear, rock chips etc.. By the way - black rims have the same problem, but it doesn't show as much...

You may not want to go with a powdercoat. Painted rims are easy to clean up and repaint, and also cheap. Powdercoat is expensive, unless you have connections, and you need to pay somebody to fix it if it chips or rusts. It is very nice though, and probably lasts longer than paint.
In my opinion, leave the rims black, and paint the hubs white, or vice-versa.

My buddy has a home powdercoating kit and just about every color you can imagine. Paint chips easily. Powdercoating doesnt...provided its done right.
When he first got it we were playing with it, doing trials coats just to get the feel for how the system works. One thing we powdercoated was a tow hook off a winch. It was a bit rusty and we didnt even bother to sand it down....we gave it a nice coating of blue and purple(we wanted to see how mixing colors looks) and once we took it out of the oven, it would not scratch or chip. We took turns slamming the hook on the concrete and skipping it across the shop parking lot...not a flaw. And thats with an at home kit. But that was about 2 years ago. Since then he got rid of that shop and the oven that it came with.
