A torque converter for a diesel MUST be built right. This makes it strong. look for a tight/low stall converter. This helps the clutch in it quite a bit.
Try DTT http://dieseltrans.com

No torque converter clutches in a 1st gen trans, so the fluid coupling is even more important than in the newer trucks.

In no particular order,
DTT
Suncoast
Goerend
Dunrite
Hughes
ATS

Hughes will probably be the best for those on a tight budget.

I have a Goerend and I love it.

I have a Suncoast in one truck and a reman from a local rebuilder in the other, honestly can't tell the difference for the almost $400 difference in price.

I've got a Suncoast just because I got a full Suncoast trans. I like it.

I have the Hughes in my truck, I'm really happy with it, and it was under $500 including shipping both ways.

Also, do you have any other mods to the tranny( shift kit)?

And, how does the tranny like your power with what you have?
