Sweet truck Tater! As far as the dream 1st gen for me would have to be a stretched crew cab short bed W350, 2WD, Dana 70, 4:10's, don't know if its possible but a 6sp, black pearl, 3rd gen seats light grey interior, stock 3rd gen rims and tires with the matching 3rd gen Mega cab. Or I would be satisfied if cottonpicker had a fresh shot of black and an intercooler.

My chassis with my 1941 sheet metal on it, with hydraulic tilt front end and a gloss camo job with a big white perl star on each door, and one big, black, rain capped stack going up the back of the cab.

First post on this site.

My dream 1st Gen is what I've been planning for years now. Going to be a long time before I get to start on it, though (active-duty Army, deployed, wife, kids, etc.).

72-80 Crew Cab 4x4
12V Cummins
47RH transmission
NP205 transfer case
Dana 60 kingpin front differential
Dana 70 rear differential
Rear disc brake swap
4" lift
33" tires
Adventurer upper and lower body trim
79-80 quad headlight grill
Green and white paint
Green and white interior
Steel wheels and dog dish hubcaps

Below is a pic of a 76 CC that I might get when I get back from Afghanistan. It will need to be converted to 4x4, but that's where a beat up 92-93 comes in. I need the 47RH because I have bad knees.

Tater, it looks like your truck just rolled off the assembly line, went straight to the custom shop for some goodies, got shipped via enclosed/climate control cargo container, and rolled out straight into your garage! Seriously, that thing is sweet. I don't blame you for wanting to hold on to it.

I never had any respect for the Dodge portion of the truck, other than the Cummins engine and the Dana axles the rest of the vehicle I considered strictly junk.
The thing (W350) rode like a buckboard, so rough that when it was new I thought I was having heart trouble. My chest hurt bad, then I drove a company vehicle (GM) for a while, chest pain went away -- then I realized the Dodge rode so rough it was causing my internal organs to stress my diaphragm.

It is great that some can see beauty in these old 1st gens and the photos here certainly demonstrate that.

I work a truck hard and when the useful life is gone there is no sentimentality involved.

The only vehicle that has any special meaning is a 409 c.i. 4 speed black 1964 Chevrolet Super Sport purchased new, probably because of what happened in the back seat more than of the vehicle itself.
I totally agree...the Dodge side of things, other than the fact that they look tough and sick, they are piles of junk. The motor is heavensent.....

Tater's 93 is my dream truck, but i'm sure he'd never sell it and I couldn't afford it if he would. So, after looking for about a year and a half, I came up with this one. It's my second favorite truck.

mine is! my VE powered 03 Superduty :P Only there are still a few things I wanna do to it that will probably never get done. Like a BTS trans. twins, fresh paint, more head work.

No but seriously, blue Single cab short box 4x4, 48re w/ standalone controller, np205, built 180 hp ppump, 024 dvs, competition injectors, 188/220 ham cam, fully loaded hamilton head, h11s, full rebuild with mahle pistons, girdle, fluidampr, garrett compounds, FASS, d80LS, 4" lift, built front d60, 3.73 gears, 4" lift, 35" tires. 800+hp and I will build it some day...

It depends on the purpose of the truck, if it was a pure first gen I'd say davids truck or Jim Lanes. Then philips truck (It's philip that has the g56 conversion right?)

After those, then Jim Lane's.
