Whats it worth?
Here is my delima.
I have a 1993 D250 with 105.000 miles. I have not had
Any problems with this truck until now.
I have been told by the local diesel shop the the injection
Pump needs to be rebuilt or replaced. The cost for
this will be $1600.00 to 2000.00.
I guess what I want to know is, is it worth repairing or
selling or parting out. At this time I am confused.
Is it worth keeping. This truck has been great I really
Don't want to sell it but? What else is going to go out on me

Start looking on the net. I think you can get rebuilt pumps around $500. I know there's a few for sale right now on 1stgen.org for a few hundred bucks, but YMMV on those guys...
I bought a spare pump for my truck for $100.

Does your truck have symptoms? What was the reason you took the truck into the shop for in the first place? The reason I ask is that many of us have well over 300,000 miles on our trucks with no pump work at all.

It's not uncommon for these pumps on these trucks to start leaking.
It seems the lower miles they are, the greater the chances, because the ULSD fuel used these days breaks down the old materials in them and usually lower miles trucks have done more stting than running, which also hastens deterioration.
It sounds like yours is doing what most of them do, leaking past the 'O' ring that seals the pin between the fueling lever and the fuel pin.
It's NOT the easiest 'O' ring to replace, but it's also not a "shop only" job, either.
There are guys on these forums (Here, 1stGen.org and others) who can and will re-seal the pump for you and do a nice job for you and at a fair price.
Otherwise, buy a re-seal kit, get an exploded view of the VE and STUDY the whole thing.
I liken it to the difficulty level of dis-assembling and rebuilding a 4 barrel carb.
Mark.

It's really pretty simple to do. I did my first one not long ago to replace a front shaft seal. Took about 6 hours and I went really slow.
Diesel Dr. up here wanted $1800 once upon a time before I knew better.
