Ok I will quite. When I had a "power tune" with valve adjustment and the pump, fuel & smoke, I was told by my Cummins tech buddy it would do no good to do anything else to the pump without a new turbo. I have since left it alone and use what I got. I now differ to the people who have built that kind of power.

You need to figure out what trucks you want to pick on. Gasser trucks and other first gens, VE and mods may work. Common rail trucks can make more power with a 64mm turbo, injectors, and electronics upgrade than any VE has with twins and nitrous.

What RonA said. If you want to stick to a 1st gen because of the body style, you'd be better off getting a complete engine out of a 2nd or 3rd gen and going nuts with that. If you want a 1st gen becaus of the engine, you can only get so much HP out of it and are limiting yourself to that. Stomp broke 700 HP a month of two ago with nitrous , but only he and the Lord know how much $$$ he paid out to get him there. AND, that's a dyno/drag truck from what I understand, not a street truck but I could be wrong.
For big hp that's usable, computers and common rails are the way to go. Hey, I don't like them much either, but it's hard to argue with a 1300hp, 10 second monster (Jeff Prince's 2nd gen) DD/work truck.
Heck, a guy I do a bit of work for has an '07 Chevy 3500, and he just put a Cheetah turbo, an exhaust of some kind and a chip in it, and he's making 725 at the wheels. Cost him around $2500 or $3000 I think. Kinda takes the fun out of it when all you need is some money and a 1/2" drive socket set to bolt it all up.

300-350 is pretty easy with injectors, pin, turbo upgrades, exaust, intake, all the ve mods you can do with a screwdriver, fuel pump upgrade, and a intercooler up grade and you need to watch your egt's like a hawk, of corse your trans is probly not gona hold but hay thats what its all about, (NEVER ENDING) I can take most 7.3's and 6.0's even with a banks big hoss kit and other stuff. And thats fun.

Note sig...
Stock injectors, super 40 and mild head porting... Fuel system too...
I dont think 400 hp is that hard to do with a ve. Pods and enough air to clear them up will make 400 hp. Its all in the tune.
