whats the difference in 4x4 shifter auto / manual

whats the difference in 4x4 shifter auto / manual

Need help on knowing what the different in the shifter on auto and manual. I got auto I got auto I'm going to use.any info will help.thank y'all

I just went through this on my crewcab 4wd conversion. Check out page 31 in my build thread.

If you have the same style....Gated shifter...then follow what I did to make it work.

Getrag and auto use the same shifter . the only difference is the Getrag has a small bracket that bolt's to the trans .All you have to do is remove the bracket and it bolt's right on Auto Trans .

That is only true if it's not the gated style shifter.

My understanding is it only applies to year. 92 being the transition to gated.

I have Never seen a different shifter so yes you are Right Brian . If you have a Picture of a different style Please Post it .

Gated style shifter...from a Cummins/A518 truck...

Hummmmm ok makes sense I have a getrag shifter in my auto .

The earlier years 89-91 come with the standard 4x4 shift pattern.

The later '92-'93s come with the Z gated shifter.
