I'm with Tater93 on the simple green, after using it at work, and have any of you seen his truck? He must be doing something right. No pressure washers, gloves, fires, or worries, and let me tell you it smells great!

One more vote for Purple Power. Spray it on good and thick, I mean use a ton of it. Let sit for a couple hours. Dump lots and lots of hot water on there from a bucket, repeatedly. Then spray with pressurized cold water. Repeat the whole process if necessary.

I have never had to work that hard with Simple Green. Just spray it on and wash it off. Thanks for the compliment Schamran.

Thanks for the compliment Schamran.
No Prob. You have the cleanest 1st gen *I've seen* in person or in pictures. Do you even drive it? That's not original paint is it? I have heard you wax your engine compartment.

Really guys, look at Tater93's truck, and tell me that Simple Green isn't some really good stuff. It won't eat anything if you leave it too long or forget to rinse an area or something. -and it actually smells good.

Thanks again, I can't lie, I don't drive it much, about 1200 to 1500 miles per year. But yes it is all original sheet metal and paint except for the tailgate. The winch post on a boat trailer ate the tailgate for breakfast a few years back. Talk about ruining a good day of fishing.

wow ..no one has said brake kleen .... i work with an ambulance mechanic ..and he don't buy anything but cases of brake kleen and it cleans EVERYTHING... he uses that non flamable stuff ...it's good stuff ..and so far as we've seen.. it hasn't harmed any electrical stuff or anything, of course ..we only use it where it's needed .. we don't bathe the ambulances in it.... typically the underbody

I urge you to read the short article linked below, particularly if you might weld on what your cleaning.
http://www.brewracingframes.com/id75.htm
Here's from OSHA http://www.osha.gov/doc/outreachtrai.../weldhlth.html

CHLORINATED HYDROCARBON SOLVENTS

Various chlorinated hydrocarbons are used in degreasing or other cleaning operations. The vapors of these solvents are a concern in welding and cutting because the heat and ultraviolet radiation from the arc will decompose the vapors and form highly toxic and irritating phosgene gas. (See Phosgene.)

PHOSGENE

Phosgene is formed by decomposition of chlorinated hydrocarbon solvents by ultraviolet radiation. It reacts with moisture in the lungs to produce hydrogen chloride, which in turn destroys lung tissue. For this reason, any use of chlorinated solvents should be well away from welding operations or any operation in which ultraviolet radiation or intense heat is generated.
Phosgene is what was used in the trenches in wwi and caused such horrific problems for the troops. Many guys suffered death or permanent disability.
This gas is also produced when heating the old r-12 refrigerant used everywhere.

i use lianda 217 chemical degresser. it comes in a 55 gal drum and costs 500. i mix it 75 parts water to 25 parts 217 and spray it out of a garden sprayer. it works great, but it will take off clear and etch alumium.
