What turbo is this?
Buddy of mine is willing to sell this to me for $200 bones. I know it needs to be rebuilt. He's saying that the fella that sold it to him said it was a 64mm. He's not sure exactly if it is tho. I know for sure it's a Holeset. It's wastgated (lol in the picture). Other than that I'm not to sure of any specs. Really kinda hoping that some one can help me out.

is this something I sould try to grab? I honestly don't have a clue. You can see and feel on the inducer housing where it had words on it but they were shaved off and tried to smooth it out. All advice on this is greatly appriciated. I'll take any pics you need to be able to see more and I can take it apart too if you need to see something internal.

I'm begging for advice guys and gals. I head out at 4am to do some field exercise till Saturday. Wont be able to research this thing till Saturday and he wants to know by sunday. Yall said it is a S300 inducer machined to fit an HX40 turbin housing. Is that a good combo or a waste of money?

I konw it's super hard to tell me the specs on a turbo that aint in your hands. I took it all apart just a bit ago. My buddy was looking at it with me and it told me it looks good internally. No scaring on the inducer housing or blades. Same for with the turbin. I don't have snap ring plyers so I can't get into the housing to find the bad seal in it. The bearings are pretty great. They spin freely. Still plan on replacing em tho. There was SOME shaft play but my buddy said it was ok. I trust his word. He's built a couple Mustangs. Super single's and a TT. I'm pretty excited about all this. Another budy has 10ft of 4in exhaust. I'm looking into running to a single 6 or 7 inch striaght cut stack. Gonna run flapper on top to keep junk out. Sound like a plan? Not gonna lie yall, I feel like a gitty little school girl right now. Making big mods. So far it's just been tuning and little tweeks to the IP. I know it's a stupid question but this thing aint gonna pop nothing with the engine is it? I know I'm gonna have to run larger intercooler piping. But I aint gonna hurt nothing am I? I plan on running 80HP injectors in the next month or 2.

Hey guys. Finally tore it appart and ordered the HX40 rebuild kit but it's wronge. Its way off. I'll put up pictures of the new internals and the old. If you can help me figure this out I would greatly appriciate it. I'm hoping to get this Turbo on before I make the 1800 mile move from the beach to the Wyoming state line. Thanks for all your advice.

in this last one you can see that all the old internals are on the left. The kit says it's for a HX40W. All the new parts are alot smaller. Any words of wisdom?

My understanding was that it was a S300 inducer on a HX40 housing. Did in read that wrong? I've been wrong before and if I am I'll laugh at myself for buying the wrong kit.

I just read thru it again. I think your right man. "It's an S300 with a machined to fit Holset hx40 turbine housing." I took it as a S300 inducer on a HX40. Maybe a HX40 turbin on a S300? lol. I feel like a dummy. lol

If the bearing internals are too small for the turbo you have, its probably and S300 variant center section. They have larger shafts and bearings. As far as the exhaust housing, I don't know what to say.
