What top turbo?

I recently bought a set of Buddha Power 6x.016 injectors to run in my '93. I'm going to run the 12mm pump with my setup...no plans of ever going 14mm. I've also got a whole list of other things I need to buy like 1/2 fuel line, head studs,etc.,etc. I drive the truck a lot, its just going to be a fun daily driver. Two wheel drive so no sled pulling, getrag so not the best drag racer (might see what it will do at a local 1/8 mile dragstrip though). So...

What turbo should I run over a 171702 S400? (It's a 2.9"/3.4" turbo)
I've really been thinking about a Holset Super 40 and I know where I can get a new one for what I think is a good price. Would I be better off with some sort of S300? I'm not really looking at the HX35 because I've been told it will be a restriction.

What do you guys think?

for a fun daily driver its hard to beat an he351 off a common rail they spool up lightning fast and drive pressure stays right around 1:1 til about 70 pounds the 9 cm housing is a little restrictive but with only running a 12mm pump you will need way more fuel before you need any more air and thwere cheap

I'd say a 300/400 would do good. I believe bgilbert is running a 300/400 combo, he seems do alright...

If you don't mind me asking, what was the price on the injectors from Buddha?

I'd vote for the hx35 if you're staying with a 12mm pump. You could always go to a 21cm housing on the hx35 if it gets restrictive.

Why not try a HE351VGT ?

Set up a manual control for the turbine. That way if you want to play you could close down the exhaust for a really fast spool, and when you're running normal or on the hiway you could open up the exhaust for less restriction...

I think the variable turbo is cool, but setting up normal twins will be more than enough for me to figure out. Bill wont the hx35 with a big housing spool slower than the super 40 with the 16?

I doubt it. Possibly the same if not a little quicker with a hx35-21. If you can get your hands on a 14cm wastegated housing that would be where I'd start for a quick spooling twin set. If not, try a heavily ported 12cm wastegated housing.

Is it worth it to put the 60mm compressor on the hx35?

Talking

Well, I ordered my turbos on Monday. I ended up going with the s300g over the s475. Part numbers 174430 and 171702. Less than $1500 shipped. I did a little more research... the 57mm s300 should flow about like the hx40, spool about like the hx35, and be tougher than either one. It wasn't much more money than buying a new 14cm gated exhaust housing and hybrid kit for an hx35...and I'd still have to buy the turbo to put them on. Thanks for all the helpful posts!
