what speeds should a stock 3 speed auto shift at?
howdy. im am working on a friends of my bosses truck at work and i got the shifting to work good but i dont know if it's perfect, the truck shifts into 3rd around 90 kmh, is that about the right speed?, and thanks to you guys i helped them alot!, they have gone to every single dodge dealer ship in alberta and the dealerships called every dealership they knew to figure out the problem and they still couldent fix it, all they did was throw in new stuff but still couldent fix it, so i came on here and learned why mine wouldent shift and when they said something about there first gen not shifting, i asked them for the keys got up went right to there truck played with the TPS and boom truck shifts with out revving it all the way out, must be embarrassing for a 16 year old to figure that out and dealerships couldent, but thanks to you all for the help!, and yeah is that about right for the truck to shift at?
thanks Gregg

There isn't anything wrong with it, that's for sure! Mine shifts at 90 if I'm hard on the throttle. But if I'm easy on it, it will shift at 70kmh or so. My truck is a 91 model.

A 3spd auto shouldnt have a TPS- that was for the overdrive transmissions. Glad you got it fixed. I'd think 90km/h (55.8mph) would be about right with 3.07 gears. Mom's will run up to about 45 in 2nd with 3.54s in "D"; it'll go 50 in 2nd if I shift it down to "2".
On the same note, My g/f's shop had a 93-94 Ford IDI turbo diesel come in complaining of hard starting and blue/white smoke under hard acceleration. My first thought was injectors/ pump. They replaced the glow plug system, and it helped, but didnt totally eliminate the problem. They finally got the injectors tested, and 6 of the 8 were bad. I told the owner to come to me from then on (I knew him from elsewhere).

yeah thats what i tuned the tps to so it would shift around there, befor she said it would rev up at 80 and keep revving hard and then you punch it down and it would clunk into gear, now it dont. haha well for the ford guy he'll be comming to see you lots.

well the tranny problem seams to not work it slipped again and you still have to rev the engine really ahrd around 75-80 kmh, what should the gaps be for the TPS sensor at stock location, i moved ti back forther again, so that if and when it slid ot would slide into normal position, or what other problems could be causing this?, thanks
