Just for example, I did 450rwhp with a particular setup on a 5 speed truck. Took that 'setup' off the 5 speed truck installed everything onto a tight 518 auto truck and the best I could get it to do was 340rwhp.

So basically, it's time for Diesel Power to do a write up on ditching your 727 for a 5 speed and then installing a 1st gen intercooler.
I dunno Bill, I'm putting 447HP to the ground (#2 only) thru an A518. Using your math and a manual trans, I should be over 550hp to the ground.

I do agree that if you want to see more HP to the ground for dyno purposes, then a manual is the way to go.

I think there is more left in a non-lockup setup also, especially if I can stretch the revs out a bit. After all, Tom Collins put down 587 on one with w/m and nitrous on a 12mm pump.

Wait a minute, didn't you say a couple of weeks ago you would blow her up trying to take the record? J/K!!! These are funny old beasts, and it seems to me like there are inconsistencies in all our trucks. Good ones and...
well, ... maybe fantastic ones and just really good ones! Trucks I mean, not the inconsistencies.

Nothing helps boost up those nitrous numbers like working on your fuel only ones....

Ahh... I am a complete neophyte when it comes to NoX. I know NOTHING!

So, where do you think you'll go next? I/C? Twins?

I got an intercooler already for a few hundred bucks for a Procharger kit that I am going to see if it works. It's supposed to support c. 1100cfm and 30-40psi so I think it will.

I have plenty of fuel, just need to be more efficient about burning it.

Why don’t you just bring the Rust Bucket up to Ponci’s shop? Brad and I helped Tom Collins gain approximately 100hp right before the dyno two years ago. That is when he went 587hp. He didn’t change anything on his nitrous set up. Brad and I just messed with his pump.

That's the million dollar answer right there. Efficiency is the key to everything we do. Trying to harness all that heat energy stored in fuel. I tell ya', once the computer programmers figure out, if they haven't already, (I try to stay on top of these things, but there's SO MUCH going on it's hard too ) how to manipulate ECM's to make POWER with little or no regard about anything else, there's going to be some HUGE numbers coming out. And it'll be done by burning that fuel efficiently.
Heck, even that 2.0l engine VW came out with has got the potential to make, what, 350 - 400 HP? On #2 only. And they wonder why we like diesel engines...

And a heck of a fuel bill. Regardless, I'll see ya all (Stomp, Ponci) at May Madness.

I say set your timing at 28*, get an IC in with 3"-3.5" tubes, set your boost at 50psi, and watch your numbers really climb. Then spray the heck out of it with N2O and go for the record. With a ringed and studed head your not going to blow a gasket. I just sold my stock IC with all pipes, clamps, intake horn, and ported grid block for $150 shipped. Then it cost me $85 to ship it to the guy, so I kind lost on that deal. LOL

That's sorta the plan, if my slip rate stays somewhat ok on the converter.

Well you know that were not that far from Redding so the offer will still stand if you ever make it back up here again.
