what extra parts for a long trip?
Ive nearly got all my crap in order to finally leave north soon. What extra parts should I bring? Fuel filters, lift pump, serpentine belt, fluids, maybe an alternator. What do you guys think? What are common roadside failures anyone has experienced?

Grab a tidy tank if you can. fuel prices on the Alaska highway suck!!! water pump.may want to bring extra belt too, GOOD jack and few blocks for stability,grease gun for the wheel bearings on trailer the road on lower end are pretty good i assume you are coming up the Stewart cassiar highway

Cool then you know the cassiar junction then waston lake is to the south if you are in real trouble and Teslin is to the north and then Whitehorse. I know a lot of the road house have closed due to the economy, don't trust the info sheets they can be out of date or they are not opening till later in the spring that is why the tidy tank would really come in handy

if you change your mind and take the alaska hiway, be sure and stop by the shell bulk plant as you are coming into Fort Nelson, and you'll probably be able to save about .30 cents a litre off prices in town (you can use visa or mastercard at the cardlock).

hey to bad my trucks tranny is bad it would be nice to meet another first genner up here in the boonies haha, i live a hour and half from stewart cassiar highway junction.

Spare jug of oil, engine and gear. Spare fuel solenoid. Nuts, bolts, and washers. A few lug nuts and a lug bolt or two. A 12v air compressor if you have one. Fix-a-flat with a jug of gorilla snot sealer. What else have I messed up on road trips!!! Good luck and have fun.

read my sig. don't jinx my old getrag. shut off solenoid, I hadn't thought of that. Another question, where is usually the cheapest as far as parts for the cummins? online?

Throw in a headlight or two and some engine oil.
Also +1 on the air compressor. I keep one behind the seat. I like to make sure the tires are properly inflated since I had a blow out on my first '92 and destroyed it. There's a lot of weight on the front tires.
