What did your TC install cost?

I'm about to order a Hughes TC and check with a couple tranny shops to see what they'd charge to install it. It's listed as about an 8-9 hour job so if my dad and I did take it on and could get my pickup up high enough it would probably turn into a 2 day job! Plus pulling the t-case back and down THEN dropping the tranny isn't at the top of my fun-to-do list. 727 2wd is one thing, this is another! The shop I'll probably have do it will do it for $400 cash with me giving them a vendor. How much did those of you who had your TC installed pay to do so?

Mine took about three hours to change. Also a good time to upgrade to a 2nd gen flexplate (wish I had known that at the time) and check the rear main seal. They are a whole lot easier to change when eveything is out than to do it twice.

1st gen and 3rd gen should be similar. Mine was $650, which included a 1/2 hr. to replace the front seal. So expect around $550.

Getting the driveshafts and linkages unhooked is the only hard part if you have a jack. you can get a cheap jack at harbor freight. If you decide to do it yourself make sure you clean under your truck real good before you start.
If not a mechanic will charge close to $500-$600 anything over that I would look elsewhere.

Like I said, I can get it done for 400 bux, so I'm seriously considering that option as it entails no headaches.
