Tranny all back together and ready to go back in.
Got a break from the heat so hopefully can get in before hot weather returns.

Took a ride out around the countryside with my daughter on Sat. and picked up some lunch.
She got in some practice driving a stick shifted truck as we where in our W-250 that I bought off of our friend and fellow DTR'er nonrev.

Tried to find an issue in the wiring after getting it back together after destroying the front end. Left side lights have a small glow when the truck is running. Need to figure out what happened to the wiring on the rebuild.

My advice would be to start by checking all the grounds...Running a lot of redundant grounds won't hurt a thing......Ben

Finally have it back on the road, had it detailed and they did a phenomenal job on the interior. Looks like factory new inside, they also did a respectable job on the paint considering what they were working with. Need to nail down where I am loosing power steering fluid and it should be back to just getting in and driving.

Check your input and out seals on the steering gear. I've been using the same steering gear for about 12 years and have had to replace those seals about every 5-6 years.

Looks to be coming from the pump/reservoir area. I found a "port" in the upper left hand area of the reservoir (as viewed from the line side) that just had a plastic plug in. I replaced that with the appropriate threaded bolt. Thinking it may be leaking around the threads still, gonna teflon tape it and see if that seals it.

So the port in the upper left was my leaking culprit. Cut down a M10 bolt and it seems to have taken care of the leak. Dunno what was supposed to be there as it just seems like it clamps the stamped reservoir to the pump body, why there wasnt a bolt there I dont know.

Regardless, happy to be driving my truck again, gonna be hooking up to the camper this friday for a short weekend trip.

Classified Ads

What's the policy for length of time for ad posting? My ad keeps getting marked as sold.
I have messaged who I thought were administrators but no response from them.
