Wife has a neighbor girlfriend. Single, struggling yada, yada, yada. Good egg, so to speak.

Needed (wanted) cedar tree removed, and I surprised her before she, came home. Stupid tree, was infested with spiders, and infiltrated with vines. The,vines wrapped around the tel drop lines. Had to pull the dodge,in the drive, and use a 10 ft ladder and hand loppers to remove the entanglement 15 feet above.

No good deed goes unpunished.

View from the driveway.

Funny timing. Yesterday I did that tree for my wife's friend, and today is her 56th birthday ! Is that coincidence or what ?

Lol...

Hey T, a question. Doesn't the power company come through and clear the trees when they grow into the power lines? Here in Phoenix, you may wake up in the morning and find a stump where your tree was. They really don't want the fire risk or power outages. About 25 years or more ago, there was a single tree in Oregon that took out the power grid all the way through California to Texas that lasted around 24 hours. They get pretty sensitive about trees....Mark

Yes they do. About every 3 to 4 years. This tree was below the power lines, but wrapped in the tel drop line that goes from pole to house.. If it was up to the power lines, she'd be hiring someone.

The tree was next to the drop line, but the vines that grew up the trunk were wrapped around it, which is why I couldnt just fell it.

Friday I took my truck to a shop to see about repairing the rust in the cab and rocker panels and then repainting the whole thing. The quote was $10,000 and that shop is backed up 2 years. So, I'll continue collecting parts and looking elsewhere.

On the repair side, I finally tracked down the battery drain I have. It seems that even when the drivers door is shut it's not completely breaking the circuit on the interior lights, even though the lights are out.

The door switch on the cab pillar is probably rusted and corroded causing the drain.

I know that Mexico is a ways from you, but, for 10 grand, you could come here (Hermosillo, Sonora Mx.), have all of the work done at a shop that I have experience with and arrive home with 8 grand still in your pocket. That would include all your motels and food. And with a small side trip you could also have a nice beach vacation at my place in Kino, just sayin'...Mark

I personally have never partaken, but, back in the early 90's, when I was a coordinator for the Spanish immersion class put on by the city for cops and firefighters (other city employees could come too), there was a LEO that did everything that was required for the class. After that, he would have me drop him off at these places that had no sign, just a locked door. He said that you had to have a card from the "taxistas" to get in. Without going into details, let's just say he had more fun in those 2 weeks than I probably had in my whole life. Every morning he would give me a new business card. I still have them, unused . I have to give him credit for knowing how to get, as Jagger said, "satisfaction". I would say that 8 grand would get you around 2 years of the same ...Mark

Yea this paint situation has gotten way out of hand the price of material has gone thru the roof and with waterborne paint ,downdraft booths and regulations I personally think it won’t b long before you’ll have to b a licensed shop to even buy paint

Guess I'll have to repaint mine like I did my '77 M880 a few years ago - with a roller and leftover floor paint...
