I'm only half kidding. Actually I think it's a good idea. Especially with an aluminum radiator. You need extra corrosion protection. A good engine flush would be good also but with plain water and not any chemicals.

I've been pricing 100% antifreeze of the ethylene glycol type but the best price I've found is $12.75/gallon. I heard it takes 5 gallons but I haven't consulted my FSM yet.

Uh Oh! I gotta' go clean out my eyes ...Mark P.S. About the price, the 50-50 mix is only a couple of dollars cheaper, do the math you'd be paying around 5 or 6 dollars for a half gallon of water, what a scam that is...

Sometimes my sarcasm is not so obvious. I apologize if anyone was misled.

Truly is a great scam because of the laziness of people....or do we call that convenience.

I usually have to ask where they keep the pure glycol anti-freeze....not near the 50/50 mix stuff usually.

Not misled, I picked up the joke, but I am a bit surprised at the kind of thumbs up on the idea ...Mark

Yeah you're right, but I have to admit that pouring a 50-50 mix together is kind of tough and some people just don't have the skills. On a less non-serious note, I have a friend that is a hard working state employee that has made a good life for himself on not a great salary, scrimping and saving . His parents passed away and left him, let's say rich. I figured that he would continue being thrifty. Boy was I wrong, he will drop the money to not have to do anything, regardless of price. I have to say, I don't blame him...Mark

OK everyone. This is a joke. I am not advocating that anyone try this. Kids, don't try this at home.

One advantage to the 50/50 mix is that if you drink it you die half as fast.

AGAIN! This is a joke.

Kinda sorta, Texas will be the biggest culture change for sure. I grew up in NE, trained in Cali in the USMC, stationed in NC for 2.5 years, 1 year in Iraq, and now 7.5 years in MN and I’m only 28. Who knows where I’ll end up settling down.

So what advantage does running pure antifreeze give? I need to change my coolant. I plan to drain and fill with pure distilled water and drive it for a day or so that way and then drain again and fill with coolant. I'm now intrigued by this thing of not adding water to antifreeze.

It's the electrolysis of dissimilar metals in a conductive electrolyte that causes the corrosion. If pure antifreeze doesn't conduct electricity there will be no corrosion. The anti-corrosion additives are in there to stop the electrolysis.

It's a bit more expensive but replacing a radiator will eat up the savings real fast.

Just be aware that pure ethylene glycol freezes at 10F

This is true. It also boils sooner than a mix. Here's the wikipedia article that tells everything you never wanted to know about it:
