Ordered more parts today. Since my heater core took a dive, I ripped out the factory evaporator unit. Hopefully I can get the new AC/heat setup installed before Christmas.... at least the heat side of it. In another month or 2, I’ll install a new compressor, condenser, lines and get everything charged up. (The AC guy is too busy in the spring/summer to crimp the lines for me) I haven’t had working AC or a blower fan since I bought the truck 2 years ago. I’ll try to take a bunch of pictures and do a write up for those of us with pre-RAM trucks who don’t have any options for direct fit kits.
cut another tree, 25 inch oak, it was a fight to the end due to digging into the creek bank and breaking a couple chains, got really lucky not needing to replace the tailgate or back glass, decided to cut it in half while my luck still held out, the saw sitting on the stump is an 290 with a 20 inch bar for size reference.
the old cummins had the woods looking like I had a tire fire going after trying to pull it out of the creek.

So do I. An auto with a low stall converter takes a lot of strain off of things.
Years ago I did a lot of logging with a '52 Binder L172 Demster boom truck. I could take more out of the woods faster than a fair sized skidder, provided the traction conditions weren't ridiculous. However, I shelled out a couple of rear gear sets and axles a year. They just weren't made for that kind of sustained high torque pulling.
Somewhere I have a picture of it coming out of the woods with about 1000 (board) feet of elm behind it and the front end about 4 feet in the air.
Was looking under the hood this evening while the motor was running to see if my fuel heater, or fuel line fittings were leaking, they were good. So I was just looking at things with a flash light and happened to see a drip fall from the deliver valve area on the IP....one of the 17mm nuts on the injector lines is clearly leaking a bit.
Guess I know what my next fuel stop leak project is.....
Hopped in the crewcab to head to work yesterday evening, fired it up...no charge! First I thought the grid heaters were drawing heavy, but after 5-10 sec the needle did not come back up. So Figured perhaps the relay was toast, I always carry a few spare relays, so tossed in a new one, still no charging, tried one more relay and still nothing. Figured the odds of 3 relays being junk was pretty slim, so most likely my alternator. I was already behind on getting to work on time so no time to toss in a spare alternator, so grabbed a rock off the driveway and gave the alternator a few good hard whacks....Charging back up and running. :0
