Today, I did some work on my box truck, replacing a damaged headlamp. We shouldn't complain about a high performance headlamp going bad, if we paid $100 for it. This one cost me $300 and 2 hours to change out, because you have to take apart the world to get it out. Yes... $300 for one headlamp assembly..
Being the first time I've ever pulled the assembly out, I had to figure it .....Could do it in 20 minutes next time...

Installed new air filter as well 10 years and 50,000, it was time for a new one, although the original one wasn't terrible. Just a bit dirty.
Installed my rear tail light bulb resistor on the passenger side tonight.... in the dark, on a piece of cardboard, in 43* F weather.... but that's what all the fun is about.
Bulbs blink as they're supposed to. Will fix that bad ground tomorrow.
I have been having intermittent starter problems for a couple weeks. I hit the key and the relay clicks but the starter dose nothing. When It does work it works great spins fast. I replaced the relay and it still dosen't work every once in a while.
So I ordered a rebuild kit from Larry Buck. got the kit yesterday and now it is going to rain
scored a set of cab lights without having to donate a kidney. In a box to go on in the spring when I swap cabs.I'll need to remove the visors lights then.
Yesterday was up to 40F* by the afternoon, so I got Poncho, The Vanilla Gorilla and The Gauntlet all pressure washed down and stuffed back into the shop to dry out. I spent most of my time washing the suspension, axles, frame and underside of the cab / bed. That will make working on them over the winter that much more enjoyable.
The batteries are now disconnected and they are ready for a long winter.
Cold Weather Behavior…
60 above zero: Floridians turn on the heat. Minnesotans plant gardens.
50 above zero: Californians shiver uncontrollably. People are sunbathing in Duluth.
40 above zero: Import cars won’t start. Minnesotans drive with the sunroof open.

Just completed a 3400 mile trip from Southern Oregon to Phoenix AZ to Escondido CA back to Southern Oregon, dragging a 20ft travel trailer. No problems, mileage 11 to 14 mpg depending on route, hills and headwinds. Time for tire rotate and oil change.
We are in the -15*C range right now...and I'm still wearing shorts, T-shirt and a hoodie, and maybe a tuque if the wind if blowin.... Had a couple people the other day say..."Nice day at the beach...eh?"....
Finished,the truck side wiring today, and my back feed into the light sockets is gone. All that is left to do is connect the plow and finish the plow wiring I disconnected to fix the wiring.
Amazing how long it takes to do wiring nitpicking every connection.
It was 54* this morning when I decided to double check my valves, since I’d just adjusted them the other day. I had a tank top and boxer shorts on, but I don’t think the neighbors paid any attention to me. I had a ticking sound and the motor seemed slightly off. I thought I may have a small crack starting in the exhaust manifold....well, sure enough, I had 1 intake valve at about .005 and another at .015. WOOPS! Reset them, popped the valve covers back on and what do ya know? It was quiet....for a rattle box of an engine! Drove about 90 miles today and everything was great. Especially rolling 70mph with the windows down on an 80* day. I think I’m going to miss this Southern California weather a little, when I move 1400 miles East.

Dude that is how you do wiring the right way. It takes me forever to install or repair electrical stuff.
