yep, no machining. i'm not doing anything crazy like compounds, but wouldn't mind the added insurance with 40 lbs of boost and advanced timing. figured may as well while i have all the valve covers off.

I think the bolts are a good upgrade at 1/4 of the price of studs.
Saved another one from the crusher today. It's rough and I'm sure most of it will end up on my scrap trailer when it's all said and done, but not before this ol buzzard has a go at it first

Rotated the engine today, via the alternator nut, and located TDC. Put a reference paint mark on the damper, and taped on the reflective tape for checking my RPM readings with the optical tach I recently bought. Upon initial start up, rpm readings were floating/averaging around 900 rpm, in Park, and grid heaters cycling. Double checked the Isspro tach to verify if readings match, and all is good. Will continue taking readings with A/C on, in Drive, but need someone in the cab to hold down the brake pedal!!
Don't you hate it when you buy something and ate in a rush to load it up. Get home and inspect further and it's not all what you wanted. Upon further inspection of the new donor, which i bought mainly for all the components to convert the D250 to a 5 speed. It was an automatic truck turned 5 speed (the new donor) which isn't a big deal but, they did a very poor job. The clutch master cylinder isn't mounted in the right location and does not have the bracket on the inside of the firewall. The clutch pedal isn't right either and looks strikingly like a homemade job. Man am i kicking myself in the ***. I'm sure i can make it all work but i sure do like being able to use factory stuff every chance i can. Makes things look a little less..... rednecked
That sucks.....I too like things to be as close to factory, or factory appearing, as possible.
If you weren't 2300 miles away I would probably be interested in that dually rear. Been thinking about getting a dually axle and then building a deck for the crewcab. Would still keep the long box and SRW axle...just a different look for a few years.
