What did you do to your Gen 1 today?

Well tonight after work, I pulled the truck in the shop to start on a very long list of things. Figured I'd start at the back. Got the right rear tore down, installed the new wheel cylinder, brakes and hard ware.
Back to napa tomorrow as they gave me the wrong wheel seals, and either didn't give me outer bearings, or they are still lost in the back seat amongst a large pile of parts.

I got my new to me '93 12V plow truck pushing snow in my driveway.
It needed some power steering fluid, followed by the standard bleeding the air treatment and a new[er] battery
I got the 8.5 ft plow blade that has been in the bed for the last three years, from what I was told, installed in the front of it.
My daughter and I then cleared the yard of snow, only getting it stuck in the mud off the driveway once.
We laughed as I drove that auto like I have never driven a plow truck before! Autos just are not my bag. I thought the '01 6 speed I used for the past three winters was easier to plow with for me.
I will install snow chains on the rear tires before the next plow session that will live on the truck for the winter.
Happy New Year to all!

Got my Beckson deck plate in the mail today, along with an optical tachometer which I've wanted for years, both compliments of Amazon. Can't wait to get that deck plate installed
Also, out of sheer boredom, started the truck and let it idle for a half hour while I did my therapy walk around my circle driveway. It's been almost a month since I've started it. Engine idles nicely

I do not do well with enforced immobility...be it cold/flu or for medical reasons. i go stir crazy in a few short hours. I feel you pain Augie...but it's nice to at least fire the truck up and listen to it idle while you do your walk around...get your Cummins fix one way or another.
And Happy New Year to all!

Today I was able to get the rear brakes done, put in some 9/16 studs while it was apart, reaplaced all three u-joints with new spicer joints, replaced carrier bearing on the rear driveline, and started to tear the front end apart.

Today i installed my Diesel Auto Power 6x13s. The 5x16s were great powerful injectors, just hazed horribly and i couldn't so much as look at the go pedal without blacking out the sun. I was worried the 6x13s would be lacking in power and i would regret it but I'm happy to report the exact opposite. The truck seems to run so much better now. I suppose the smaller sticks atomize better and help to not over fuel the turbo allowing it to spool faster. At 70mph on flat road it runs about 50 degrees cooler with about 2 more pounds of boost. Still hazes a good bit at idle but i can actually drive around without so much smoke at every shift unless i really want it to. Good decision so far and hopefully my mileage will increase but only a few tanks will tell. I was getting 21mpg highway and 16ish towing and playing with the 5x16s so hopefully these will net a few more mpg. I'll keep yall posted

Vader93, is yours a D or a W? If it's a 4x4 W250, is there anything out of the ordinary that you have done to your trucks fuel/air system to achieve 21 mpg's? All of what I've done is in my sig, and as far as fuel delivery modifications, I've tried to be conservative with pump tweaks, and have even down sized my injectors from those fuel guzzling POD's I used to run. I believe I have more air than fuel feeding my truck. How in blazes do you get 21 mpg's? Mind sharing?

Yes, Vader runs the lowered blacked out dually
The 2wd and the lowered rig take less fuel than out W-250 and W-350 with all that turbulent air under out brick like truck shape.
Down in Texas the fuel should even be better than the crappy winter blend I am getting right down.

Yup. The 2wd trucks get better mileage because they're shorter and they don't have that front running gear messing up the air travel around a brick. Everything Oliver said. Is the consensus.

Less moving parts, less disturbed air, and to some extent less weight too as that Dana 60F is heavy.
