stock cam through cummins is $569 and the timing gear was $230 and now you are gonna have to get the gear housing and that is pretty pricy. so you are lookin at atleast 1500 from start to finish. thats arond wat i paid to fix mine.

heck 1500 bones.. Ouch.
I would find me a nice used 2nd gen 12v for 1800-2k before I would rebuild what ya got, unless you have a good deal on parts.
Good luck

I'm with Ace, I bet it was a case bolt.
Pull the front cover and see how bad things look. You may get by with just a pump gear and a case & cover. Ebay will be your friend here, there is a guy on there parting out Cummins engines all the time. It would be cheaper to buy a running used engine than new parts from Cummmins.

KDP!! The good news it only wiped out the case, pump gear, and cover. It looks like to me to get the case off I have to pull the cam? Anyone got any input on getting the gear off of the cam?

It is pressed on and cannot be removed with the cam in the block (not that I know of anyway). Get some dowel rods for the lifters and go at it. There is a post in here somewhere that explains it pretty good. May be in the sticky, I cant remember for sure. Good luck!!
