WH1C and intercooler

I have the oppurtunity to get a WH1C and the intercooler for my non-intercooled truck. Right now i have the baby H1C and can get about 25 PSI boost max. I'm just looking for some input on the deal. The WH1C has the 12cm housing on it. What kinda temps do you think i would see at 80 mph compared to the 18.5 cm housing. I hope not a big increase since i do like using top end a fair bit.

I know the efficienty range on the H1C's is about 25-27 PSI, but do the WH1C's have the same efficienty range, or are they like the HX-35's with a efficienty range of about 37 PSI?

BTW, i hardly ever tow........

thanks

Jeff

The Wh1c has a 56mm compressor wheel where yours has a 52mm wheel. The wh1c will flow more air keeping you rig cooler except for the back pressure of the 12cm housing. The intercooler will lower egts also so I think you will be well ahead getting the setup. I think the 18.5 exh housing off you h1c will fit the wh1c also if you did have a problem with egts but I don't think you will.

I just changed from the stock baby H1C to basically a WH1C but without the wastegate and still no intercooler. I made an improved intake pipe and horn that's a full 3 inch ID so I could get the improved flow into the engine.
I kept the 16 cm housing I had on the baby.
I maxed out my 30 psi boost gage with the baby and with the frankenturbo, but I also turned up the fuel a little more with the new turbo so EGTs are a little higher now, but still ok.
Mid to upper range is really improved on my rig...that's nice as I do a fair bit of highway driving.
I do notice a bit more lag because of the larger compressor wheel....my guess is that with the 12 cm you will not have any...
Plus the addition of the intercooler should help a lot, so I think you'll be fine with the 12 housing.
I say do it.

I switched from the whc/16 to hx35/16 then to hx35/12 and with the 12 I saw the lowest egts especially on the low end. Im not pushing as much fuel as a lot of guys are, I don't have much top end so with the 12 you may loose top end, but it sure helps out the bottom end a ton!
But if you get a good price on the parts, Do It!

Is there any difference between the WH1C and the HX-35, or is it just in the name?

thanks

From what I understand they are the same except the compressor housing is held on by a outer clamp on the wh and an inner ring on the hx. I'm not sure about the internals (bearings etc)

Looking at the two side by side the hx35s center section, the part that holds the bearing is larger, I don't know if the size of the compressor wheel is larger, but it has map width enhancement slots in the compressor housing that are supposed to make it have efficient boost up to 35 psi, where the whlc is out of its efficiency range at 25-28psi.

This is how I understand everything, I maybe wrong.

HX-35's aren't real efficient at 37 psi either. You don't want either of them going much over 30 psi, past 35 psi it's all hot air.

You will lower your cruise and in-town EGT with a stock WH1C, but there just isn't the airflow to support the fuel you have at high RPM and heavy throttle with the 12 cm housing. Been there, done that. The stock WH1C is a blast in town, though - Insta-Boost!.

I would get the setup if it's a good deal, the intercooler will help you a bunch. Run the 18.5 housing or get a 16 cm.
