I had a problem in my old Toyota 4x4 (4" lift 33/12.5 tires) it would hop like crazy in 4lo, had a bunch of guys tell me to get trac bars, and more weight on the tail. If Thumbs doesn't have enough hitch weight could this be adding to his problem? (ie trailer load to far back, all on or rear of the axles?)
PS. 79' -85' solid front axle Toyota's had a torque rod on the front axel to stop axle wrap, problem was when you lift them it changes the geometry, when I got the truck it was lifted and I didn't notice that the rod (hooked to the frame) had ripped a chunk out of the frame, doh! and was now uselessly hanging there. OH WELL, sold it as is, got me a cummins now!!!

In my Ford I have the same issue, when I back up under load it hops like mad. If I let out on the clutch fast it's fine.
I think... it's a warped pressure plate. Or some would call it a hot spot.
I plan to pull it off and have it resurfaced.
I do have wheel hop from the lift blocks, ford puts 4" lift blocks in the rear to compensate for the D60 front. What a horrible setup.

lift blocks
1. Would a Kelderman setup allow one to "lose the lift blocks"?
2. If one plans to eventually switch to Kelderman, would going with Skyjacker lift springs be a waste of money?

No, the Keldermann setup is designed to operate at stock height. The bags are at the midrange of their travel when the hanger arms are at the same height as the stock spring hangers. It's not designed to alter the ride height of the truck and will not provide a good ride if the bag pressures are set to change the height. It'll work fine with lift springs like the Skyjackers.
