The Viper & Mega Viper transmissions from PATC
Does anyone here use either one?
I don't think anyone does. I tried searching the entire forum for viper & megaviper but came up with nothing.
The Viper is $2715 shipped. I might give them a call to negotiate a new price for the trans without a VB, so I can use the one I got.
how much power do they hold up to?
I haven't called them yet to find out (obviously), was just wondering what the first gen forum people thought first.

they do good work, my dad had a PATC trans in our old motor home (727 behind a 440 big block). It was a badarse transmission. towed very heavy.
They offer the diesel stuff, converter, and billet shafts so id imagine they know their stuff, I think the best thing to do is call.
I know most of the big big power guys on the net run 5 speeds or 47rh's.

I'm still only shooting for 300-350 whp.
I just don't trust the Jasper transmission I have now. I have beat on it, but it has a stock convertor. I think the stock sloppy convertor kind of protects the transmission in a way.

I called them.
Right off the bat he was very persistant about converting to a lockup convertor setup. He claimed that it's pretty easy to do. I'm a little wary myself. I also already have a TC waiting, so non lockup is fine with me.
Price for the mega-viper was $2296. They discounted quite alot for not including a TC or VB, which I already have. Shipping is $275.
It's good for 450-500 diesel horsepower.
I think I'm going to order one up, I'm kind of stoked.
Seems like a good deal?

Seems like a good deal if you already have a good converter.. Do you have to send in your trans as a core though?? If it were me I would probably just buy all the parts from him and have a local reputible shop rebuild it.. Probably save some major coin..
Lockup is nice though, but if you don't have a core then you are kinda sol..

I thought your truck had like 90,000 miles on it? jasper converters are JUNK, archer39 can tell you that one, a stock one is'nt even as bad as a stock jasper junk.

I got about 95,000 now. The mileage on the Jasper transmission is unknown. It's probably not much more than 6,000 miles. Not sure what convertor is has.

I'm out of town for 4 days, but I gave my brother the truck to drive around and get the VB problems figured out.
It's not a govenor or govenor weight problem.
