Velvet ride shackles

Has anyone tried these which have a torsion rubber insert to see if they improve the empty ride? They may not even have them for our first generation trucks. If they are available and if they work, they would be a cheap fix. We have torsoion rubber axles on a trailer we own and it is a great improvement from those without any springs.

Sounds like just what I need. How about a link to where you got them?

They don't seem to list them for 1st gens. Do they make them and this place just doesn't list them?

Thanks

Edwin

How much of a difference did they make? I practically need a kidney belt driving around in my truck! Good news is I'll never have kidney stones!

I think if you use the 1/2 ton listing it might work, they list them by spring width and the listing for 77 and up 1/2 tons is a 2.5 in spring...just thinkin out loud.

How do these work? Do you need to lock them when you have a big load or what?

They may not list them for a 1st gen but most likely another application will work. just needs to be made for a 2.5" wide leaf spring, about the same length, and for a tension shackle arangement.

Jughead would you say they're well worth the $150.

Where in TN are you located. I'm from Savannah

These won't be available till may. I called drivetrain specialties and they said that there shackles wouldn't work on our trucks. She wasn't clear why not.

I still think the 1/2 ton units will work.

As long as the lenth when extended is OK and the bolts are the same size the 1/2 ton units would work. If you decide to try a set, let us know how they fit and which ones you buy.
