I was in at the local injection shop the other day and they mentioned those springs as well. I think I might just invest in some new ones seeing I am in there now. Thank you for the advice and I will definately go the vaseline route for lubing her up when putting it back together.

The spring should be replaced it a VE thing that they brake. Whene I worked in a diesel fuel Inj shop we NEVER reused the VE plunger springs on any VE be it a VW, 4 BT, 6 BT, or any VE replace them Ken
