VE pump vendors
I need a ve pump. Looking for a source for a qaulity rebuilt(or new) pump.
Have you guys had good luck with any particular vendor? Anybody tried Diesel Care and Performance or Pensacola Diesel ? Recommendations appreciated.

I heard very bad stories from DC, You can call a fuel injection shop that rebuild this pumps and get one from them or buy a core ad have it rebuild at Your local Bosch dealer.

Is that the only way you can "hot rod" a VE?
I'm kind of looking for a new one myself. I have a nasty fuel leak now and I'm too lazy to tear into the pump to check out o rings.

/I think checking around for a local pump shop would be your best bet, that way if you have a problem you can more easily deal with it. Anybody out there bought a new pump with a 366 spring already installed?

A local pump shop would be great, but in my case(in the boonies) local means 200--300 miles. I imagine a few others have a similar problem. I was hoping to get a lead on reliable shops/vendors that I could deal with via UPS.
Suggestions appreciated.

Its a $20 spring and I don't think anyone already puts it in, If you befriend the guy at your local pump shop then he may do it. But its kinda like an under the counter thing and you gotta tell him what you're using it for.

my thinkin is if you got the pump there on the bench waiting to go in, its only like a half hours worth of work to put the spring in and pull the afc lever, and then you have a hotrod, cut the collar off the screw and your done, sure is alot easier off the truck than on it.

I used Pensecola Diesel for my last pump...worked pretty well. Now I'm learning the hard lesson of vegie fuel...NEVER AGAIN!! Looks like I've killed some more parts again! Lift pump, filter and maybe the IP. Not anyone's fault but mine, Pensecola does good work IMHO.

I've got a question, is there a way to "recondition" a head and rotor? Lets say you have one of these pumps with 400k+ on the HR, and it gets to where once it gets hot it won't re-start unless you poor water on it. To me that says the HR is worn out and doesn't make a good seal once its hot. Obviously getting a seal kit and replacing them isn't going to fix this.
So is the only option a new HR? If so I priced one from the bosch dealer a while back and it was $1200. So obviously one of these $400 rebuilds doesn't include these hard parts, but is anything done to them?

apwatson50 doesn't Rocken-Tech build a 12mm H&R for our pumps? The 14mm they build is like $300 and change. If I remember correctly they had 12mm hard parts. But I could be wrong. Good luck with you pump.
