VE pump source

i know there are plenty of threads about this but its difficult to search for because the engine wont recognize the word VE.

anyway, some schmuck from a local diesel shop tried telling me a new VE is $3000. i know he cant be right. i've seen some links, but i cant find them. please re-post.

thanks.

Are remanufactured injection pumps usually worth it, or are they like remanufactured master cylinders and have a 75% failure rate?

Depends on the shop that built it.

i just got off the phone with the shop that tried telling me a VE was $3k. i told them i've found them for $900 and they told me they were junk. 50/50 on good pumps.

its worth a try if they come with any sort of warranty.

The following is from piers diesel website:

All fuel pumps are new

89-93 VE Pump $1375.00

Foud here

http://www.piersdiesel.com/DodgeUSPrice.htm

How can they charge that much when a new one is less than half!!! That also happens to be more than what chrysler themselves want!!! I don't understand how they're still in business, well I guess at those prices it only takes a couple suckers to keep them going. lol

Are you sure that Piers doesn't do some tweaking on their pumps?

$1395 is not that bad for a new pump considering the reman is $895 w/ core. add $500 core charge and your reman is now the same price as a new pump.

I would recommend looking into the piers deal. They don't have "new" Ve's in stock. A Tdr Member attempted to order one and was told that they were no longer in production. HE then contacted Bosche and was considering a custom run for 1st gen tdr members, if the interest was great enough he said the toal cost would be less than 750 per person wholesale.
