Valuation of used trucks?
Greetings, New Member also, have read your postings for weeks, great site. Informed owners!!!!!
I drive a big cam 400 daily-18 wheeler, 39 foot end dump trailer, classic 359 BIG HOOD peterbilt!!
1. My questions, two rigs i have located a 92 single cab w/ aprox 150,000 standard, clutch work has been done last year or so, springs rearched one leaf added, stands up tall. Needs paint, body straight, needs head liner and carpet is gone, fold down goose neck hitch
_____ worth?
2. Second truck 197,000 extended cab, never a hitch installed (no heavy pulling) no oil leaks, has an automatic. interior and body are straight and clean w/usual age wear. Not especially favorable of autos--Dodge has trouble w/them? ( any specifics?).
__________worth?
thx, love the site-and wanna you are certifiable "guru" in my book!!

Better look it up in Kelly Blue Book. I don't think we are very good at guessing values of unseen trucks.
Welcome to the tribe though! The initiation beating will begin in 10 mins.

Your location & the number and shape of the other comparable trucks on the market are a factor in value as well as truck condition. I purchased a 92 Reg Cab, 3/4 ton 2WD in September. Loaded with all the options other than a tach. 114000 miles and the clock with an automatic. Paid $5000.00 for it. Drove over a 100 miles one way to get it and spent 2 weeks working on the dealer for that price. (I drive truck also so I was able to look over the truck several times while on the road working. Did the dickering on the phone) Comparable trucks closer to home were priced 3 to 5 K more.
Do you homework, check the prices in the classifieds, also check the Kelly blue book http://www.kellybluebook.com/ & NADA sites http://www.nadaguides.com/ as mentioned above.

You're making me blush. That 359 sounds like a sweet ride, I love trucks that look like a real truck!
1st gens usually go for more money than the book says. Are either of these 4X4? If so, add about $800 - $1k.
Truck #1 - I wouldn't go over $3k. Try for $2k if it looks as crappy as it sounds.
Truck #2 - You don't mention year but I'll assume it's similar. This sounds like a $4 - $5k truck, depending on how tricked out it is. The automatics are fine if the engine is stock, it's when you turn up the engine that the trouble starts. All that Cummins torque tears 'em up. If the truck is stock and the trans has been maintained, it will be fine.

How much $ ????
Well, I will start off with this comment, you can spend anywhere from $2,000.00 to upwards of $15,000.00 on a first gen, I think Dave (Wannadiesel) is right on the money with his estimates of the two truck's listed......I bought a real nice 92 W350 LE Dually X cab with 135,000 miles for $12,000.00 and about 2 weeks later I found a 92 D250 Reg cab, auto, A/C with 88,000 miles for $5,000.00........you just need to watch the site's and different books, there are still some clean trucks out there, but it takes some searching.....let me know if you want some help......I love looking for the hidden gem....first gen !!!
