Urgent Answer needed ASAP! Tranny bolting to engine question
Hey folks,
I have someone coming to pick up my donor truck in moments.
I just realized that I MIGHT have an issue, but not sure.
I took the Getrag and the clutch housing off the truck.
The clutchhousing/bellhouse bolts to a big plate that is bolted to the engine.
Is that plate specific to the transmission, or the same on either auto or manual?
I'd hate to send this truck packing only to find out that I'm missing a key part.
THANKS!

You're talking about the engine adapter plate: I would keep it so that your engine adapter plate + bellhousing + transmission are all from the same provenance.
Incidentally I do not remember if the 518 and the G36 shared the same adapter plate.

The engine adapters are the same for both trans.
1st gen has a thin engine adapter.
2nd and early 3rd gen use the same adapter.
When the G56 came out the engine adapter was changed.
