Upgrading Fuel Filter Housing Q?'s
I recently came across a junk 6.9 in the pick and pull, and it used a large fuel filter housing mounted to the passanger side head via a bracket. I removed the filter housing and stuck it on the shelf. I now have noticed my supply line from the OEM filter housing to the Pump is leaking and I cant get it sealed up. So I bought new lines and am wanting to mount this larger housing and bypass the OEM one. Since the 6.9/7.3 IDI has similar fuel pressures from the lift pump, I know it will work, but my conern is what do I do with the old housing? I know I can leave it on, but can the fuel filter mount be removed?
Thanks

on the new model trucks with the p7100 they still have the old filter housing which is machined into the block but it isnot used and there a remote one that is used. I also by passed my stock filter housing and am using a large filter for a semi with a twist drain to drain the water out. No water in fuel sensor either

CSRamsey, take that filter mount to the truck parts store and see if there is a big truck filter that will screw up to it, before you install it.
Did you get the one with the solid bottom filter, or the later version that has the water seperator on the filter like the ones we already use??

na its the solid bottom filter. I had a 92 7.3 and used the one with a drain on the bottom, but wasnt sure if the thread pitch and o-ring i.d. was the same so i didnt chance it. ill run a time with this one, then see if i can find a bigger filter. I really like the fact that
i can ck fuel pressure right at a schrader valve on the housing
i can ck fuel pressure right at a schrader valve on the housing
