Unclog your axle vent!
Just a friendly reminder, Unclog your rear axle vent. It's probably clogged. I just unclogged mine on Monday and my dad told me a clogged axle vent can cause your axle seals to leak .
The Nipple is on the DRIVER SIDE axle tube right on top, It comes out of the same junction block that the brake lines come out of. I ripped the ostrander clamp off, pulled the hose off. Unplugged the hose with compressed air and then took a small screw driver and poked it in the nipple on the axle tube, it was totally clogged up with dirt. Yesterday I changed my gear oil with Lucas 80w-90 and added 8oz of Trans-X limited slip goop. I got some nasty crap out of the rear with my hand, I just wore rubber gloves.
So yea for something that takes 2 minutes, that axle vent being plugged up can cause headache for sure. My axle seals have been leaking for years until i replaced them, and i'm NOT doing them again for a longgggg time.

I explained it in detail...... It's obvious when you're under there. a rubber hose goes from the driver side axle tube and clips to the bottom of the bed. Remove that hose from the nipple and clean it out.

You can extend the hose so it is in a eaiser place to get at,
On my 93 i extended the hose and put it in the box , Because where i work it is always getting plugged with dirt mud, I also extened the front one up in the motor compartment,
Never had a problem after that,
On my 2004 the front one is up in the motor compartment also, and the back one i can get at by the rear tire to check it and make sure the vent is not plugged. and unplug it when mud gets in it,
